Free tier: what the register records before anyone pays

Free tier holds what a generator's own pages say about output before any payment. Kling AI states it in a sentence. LTX Studio, Pika and Runway are read from a line that sits on the paid columns and not on the free one. As of 2026-09-12.

Inclusion rule. Every generator on this register, with the value its own public pages support. Where a vendor attaches no plan condition to the mark, the row records the documented default instead of a tier. Order. Alphabetical by generator name.

1Why marking gets a column before payment

The free plan is where the first clip comes from, and often where the clip somebody kept came from. A register that recorded only what a paid subscription produces would describe the files a studio commissions and miss the files it inherits: evaluation runs, a contributor's trial, a shot that was never meant to ship and did. This column exists so that the state of those files is written down somewhere other than in the memory of whoever generated them.

It also separates a question vendors tend to answer in one breath. A plan grid moves from what you get for nothing to what you get for money in a single line, and a reader scanning it comes away with one impression of the product. Splitting that line in two forces each half to be sourced on its own, and on this register the two halves are not equally well evidenced.

2Two kinds of evidence sit in the same column

Four vendors write the free-tier answer out. Kling AI says output on the free Basic plan carries a brand watermark; Fliki says its free plan includes the Fliki watermark; D-ID says a full-screen watermark appears for trial users; Luma AI says a watermark applied on the free plan is not lifted by a later upgrade. Those are sentences, and they stay quotable after a pricing page is redesigned. LTX Studio, Pika, Runway, HeyGen and Synthesia say nothing about their free plans at all. Their rows exist because a line about watermarking appears against the paid columns and not against the free one, which on a feature grid is built to be read as excluded.

Both readings live in this column and are labelled differently, because they age differently. An omission has to be re-read every time a grid is redrawn; a sentence does not. Where a vendor's pages never raise the subject at all, no row is invented for it and the silence is recorded as not documented, which is what most of the fourth column on this register is still made of. One row is empty for a third reason: Pictory publishes no free plan, so the question this column asks has no answer to omit.

3What this column does not settle

It says nothing about what the mark looks like. No vendor here publishes a position on the frame, a size, an opacity or a behaviour at different aspect ratios, so there is no column for any of that and there will not be one until somebody writes it down. A reader who needs those details is looking for a specification that no public page carries.

It also says nothing about the interior of the file, and nothing about whether the output may be published. Pika ties watermark-free download and commercial use to the same plans; LTX Studio does not, and puts its licence boundary a plan above its watermark boundary. Reading this column as a permission to publish is the mistake that pattern sets up.
