Luma AI (lumalabs.ai) documents the mark in a licensing guide rather than on the plan grid, and it is the one entry here that says what happens to old files: a Free or Lite watermark stays after an upgrade. As of 2026-09-22.

1The mark is attached to the generation, not to the account

Most plan tables answer a question about the present tense: on this plan, output comes out clean. Luma's licensing guide answers a second question nobody else here addresses, which is what happens to the files already made. Content generated on Free or Lite carries a watermark that the guide says cannot be removed even if the subscription is upgraded later, and the same paragraph keeps the personal-use restriction attached to those older generations regardless of subscription changes.

That single sentence changes how a production has to plan. On the other plan-gated entries in this register, an upgrade is a purchase decision that can be made when delivery approaches. Here the state of a file is decided at the moment it is generated, so a trial run made on the free plan is not material that a later payment can clean up. It has to be generated again.

2Downgrading runs the same rule in reverse

The guide also covers cancellation. New generations after a downgrade fall under the Free plan terms, described as limited usage, non-commercial use and possibly including a watermark, while the clean files produced while the subscription was active are not described as changing. The boundary in both directions is the date a file was made, which is a more precise rule than the register usually gets from a vendor and a stricter one to live with.

The crossing point itself is ordinary: the pricing page lists Plus at $30 a month, with Pro at $90 and Ultra at $300 above it, and the licensing guide groups Plus, Unlimited and Enterprise together as the plans whose output carries commercial rights and no watermark. Nothing on either page names a provenance standard or a metadata field, so the machine-readable field is recorded as not documented.
